A Rescue Built on the Foundations of Love

Back in July 2019, a group of Frenchie-obsessed friends came together and chose to make a difference. What started as a shared passion for the breed quickly became something far more powerful — a rescue organisation dedicated to the French Bulldogs being abused and overbred across the UK.

Their mission is twofold: to rescue dogs who have been failed by the system, and to bring awareness to the wider public about the specific needs of the breed. Because too many puppies are flooding the market, and too many people are purchasing them without any research or knowledge of what it truly means to care for a French Bulldog.

The Reality They Face Every Day

The coronavirus pandemic brought an unexpected surge in demand for dogs during lockdown — and French Bulldogs were among the most sought-after. But since spring 2021, Frenchie & Friends Foundation has seen a huge influx of surrendered dogs as the world returned to normal. In recent times, they have had eight dogs handed over to their rescue in a single day.

The stories behind those dogs are heartbreaking. Dogs arriving with nothing but a cheap collar bought that day to convince prospective buyers they were coming from a loving home — when the truth was they had been living in squalor, left outside, abused as breeding machines, or simply uncared for. Dogs met at the lowest point of their lives.

And yet — the transformation. Time and again, the team at Frenchie & Friends Foundation has opened their hearts and homes to these dogs, and been completely blown away by how they change. Dogs who had every reason to distrust humans becoming loving, trusting companions. Dogs who had nothing becoming everything to the families who welcomed them.
