Snoring, twitching, completely unbothered. Your Frenchie isn't lazy — they're biologically brilliant.
French Bulldogs sleep 12–14 hours a day, and that's perfectly normal. Their flat faces mean every breath takes more effort, their bodies overheat easily, and they were bred purely for companionship — not activity. Rest is how they recover.
Puppies sleep up to 20 hours. Adults settle at 12–14. Seniors creep back up to 18. If your Frenchie is hitting those numbers, they're doing exactly what nature intended.
Create the Perfect Sleep Environment
Keep the room cool (18–21°C), minimise noise, and use calming scents to signal wind-down time. Lavender, sandalwood, and vanilla are proven to reduce anxiety and promote deeper sleep — for both of you. Light a candle 30 minutes before bed and the scent becomes a sleep cue your Frenchie will recognise.

When to Worry
Excessive sleep is normal — but watch for sudden changes. Difficulty waking, laboured breathing during sleep, or lethargy even when awake can signal a problem. If something feels off, speak to your vet.
