Does Your Dog Need a Perfume? (Spoiler: Your Frenchie Absolutely Does)

Because "eau de wet dog" is not a fragrance. It's a cry for help.

Let's be honest. French Bulldogs are many things — charming, dramatic, deeply committed to sitting on your feet. But fresh-smelling? Not always their strongest suit.

Between walks, rolling in things they shouldn't, and that particular Frenchie skin-fold situation, even the most beloved Frenchie can benefit from a little olfactory assistance. Which is exactly why we created Frenchie Femme and Frenchie Homme — two premium dog colognes crafted specifically for the discerning French Bulldog.

But Is Dog Perfume Actually a Thing?

Absolutely — and it's more sophisticated than you might think. A good dog cologne isn't just a spray to mask bad smells. It's a carefully formulated product that:

  • Eliminates odours at the source rather than just masking them
  • Conditions the coat with built-in moisturisers
  • Is completely safe for your dog's skin and coat
  • Lasts — not just for five minutes, but genuinely throughout the day

Both Frenchie Femme and Frenchie Homme are pet-safe, cruelty-free, and suitable for all breeds and coat types from 6 weeks old. They contain a built-in odour eliminator that neutralises bad smells rather than simply covering them up — and a coat moisturiser that leaves your Frenchie's fur soft and healthy.

How to Use Dog Cologne Safely

A few simple rules to get the best results:

  • Spray once or twice on the coat from a distance of about 20cm, keeping well away from the face and eyes.
  • Alternatively, spray onto a brush and glide through the coat — great for sensitive dogs who don't like the spray sound.
  • Use every few days as part of a regular grooming routine.
  • Do not apply to broken or irritated skin.
  • Consult your vet if your dog has known allergies or skin conditions.

💡 Bonus tip: A few spritzes of Frenchie Femme or Homme also work beautifully to freshen up a room, a car, or a dog bed. Spa day, every day.

The Perfect Gift for Frenchie Parents

Both colognes make brilliant gifts — especially paired with one of our Frenchie candles or figurines for a complete Frenchie-lover gift set. Because if someone loves their French Bulldog enough to buy them a cologne, they probably deserve a candle too.
